[Teleplace] Provides Business Users with
Webcam Video and Custom Options
LOS ANGELES (Virtual Worlds Expo Booth 213) – September 3, 2008 – Teleplace, Inc. today announced it has expanded the types of avatars offered in its [Teleplace] secure virtual workspace software. [Teleplace] now provides companies with a wider variety of avatar options than any other virtual business environment, so users can select the type of avatar best suited for the applications and tasks of their teams. New personalization capabilities enable users to display webcam video on the head of Teleplace’s geometric avatars, and generate humanoid avatars, in seconds, from a photograph of a user’s face,
“There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to avatars for business use. Working together with our customers and partners, we’ve created the best selection of avatar options for anyone doing real work in virtual environments,” said Greg Nuyens, CEO of Teleplace. “Enterprise customers want avatars that don’t distract teams from their work and that allow employees to quickly focus on business.”
Webcam support in [Teleplace] was designed to track a user’s focus of activity and enable others to see a user’s face and expressions in real time. With these new capabilities, image avatars in [Teleplace] provide powerful new ways to leverage multiple modes of communication when users are interacting with others.
The personalized, humanoid avatars in [Teleplace] were created in partnership with CyberExtruder, a creator of 3-D imaging solutions that enable the automatic conversion of a 2-D facial image (e.g. passport photo) to an accurate 3-D model of the subject’s face or head. Now [Teleplace] users can easily generate mesh and texture from a photo of a person’s face and benefit from fully articulated limbs that enable an even more realistic representation of a person.
[Teleplace] provides customers with a full range of avatars to give them the ability to choose the right avatar for the application and task at hand.
Teleplace, Inc., www.teleplace.com, is creating virtual spaces for the enterprise that enable collaboration in ways that were not possible before. [Teleplace], the company’s flagship product, is a secure virtual workspace application that significantly increases the productivity of distributed teams by bringing critical resources together in virtual places as if they were in the same physical location. A highly interactive and persistent environment, [Teleplace] enables users to work, collaborate with others, and identify and solve problems.
